Rev Paul Savage

My name is Paul and I am the new Vicar here at Stapleford Parish, whichever of the churches you are part of I am sure you will be welcomed as we have.

I love Jesus, my wife and family. I enjoy cake, curry & proper coffee (a bit too much), watching movies, playing bad golf, supporting Westham (sorry!) and trying to be more active (as I like cake and curry a bit too much).  We are looking forward to reacquainting ourselves with Nottingham, exploring and getting to know Stapleford, meeting new people, seeing the churches grow and journeying together on this adventure called life with one another and Jesus.

The churches here in Stapleford, want to encourage you to discover that you are created in God’s image with purpose and meaning. That the Kingdom of God is bigger than the limits we often place on it, we are called to be a church of all ages, where people from all cultures and nationalities can find home, whether they are a refugee or have always lived here. Finally, each one of us needs to change and become more like Jesus, this is the hardest bit and we need a Christ centred community to help us to truly grew as Christians, we cannot do that alone.

I hope we can enjoy food and conversation soon.

Emma Rolls, Curate

Emma hails from both the Midlands and North Yorkshire, and has a rich spiritual journey. Raised in a churchgoing home, she made a life-changing commitment to follow Jesus at the age of 16 and her faith was nurtured through active participation in the local youth group.

In 2017, Emma relocated to Nottingham to pursue her academic interests. She studied Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Nottingham. During her time there, she helped establish Just Love Nottingham, a society for Christian students passionate about social justice.

Emma’s heart for justice continued to grow, fueled by an internship year at St Margaret’s church. It was during this period that she discerned a calling to ordination. In 2022, she commenced her training at St Mellitus College, East Midlands. She has been on placement at St Stephen’s, Sneinton which she has found fulfilling and she is grateful for the experience.

Her life and ministry are deeply rooted in pastoral care and community building. Emma’s favorite retreat is by the seaside in Yorkshire, where she finds solace and inspiration. Her friends and family hold a cherished place in her heart.

Emma is currently on placement at St Michael’s, Bramcote for three months

Nakita Tailor, Youth Minister
Nakita is passionate about supporting young people in our community and believes that an active relationship with God can be truly transformative. Growing up in the local area and attending George Spencer Academy, she witnessed many of the modern struggles her generation are facing today which gave her a deep desire to help young people find hope, peace, and identity through faith in Jesus and within a supportive Christian community.

Her goal is to create a space where every young person feels seen, valued, and embraced—regardless of where they are in their faith journey. She hopes to help them discover that the church can be a place of refuge, belonging, and joy.

In her spare time, Nakita loves spending time with friends and family, being outdoors, cooking and baking, being creative, and playing board games. She also finds joy and rest in learning more about God and spending time in His presence.

Church Wardens

Beverley Brooks

Hello, I am Beverley and have been elected as Churchwarden at St. Helen's for a second year of office.  I was raised in a Christian home as a child, but throughout my teenage years, my faith dwindled until I heard Billy Graham!  I love worshipping at St Helen's and serving God in all aspects of his work which I can tell you are very varied and often challenging but, through prayer, due consideration and teamwork, together we are undertaking God's work in Stapleford.

I live in Stapleford with my husband Andy, and we have 3 children and 4 wonderful grandchildren who keep us all smiling.  My background many years ago was a Legal Executive and from there I ran local, national and international charities whilst also being a Government adviser on children caught up in family breakdown; I am now an NHS England Officer chairing Independent CHC Review Panels for London and the Midlands.

Catherin Jefferson

I am both humbled and delighted to have been appointed as Churchwarden alongside Beverly Brooks.

A little about me – I’m originally from India and moved to the UK in 2017 after marrying my husband, Jefferson. I was raised in a Christian family and have always felt a strong calling to serve God. Back in India, I was actively involved in children’s and youth ministry, which helped nurture my passion for church service and community outreach.

My family and I have been part of St Helen’s church family since 2019. From the very beginning, we were met with warmth and kindness, and it has truly been a blessing to be part of such a loving and supportive community. I currently serve on the AV desk support team – a role that has allowed me to contribute meaningfully to church life.

When Beverly approached me about considering the role of Churchwarden, I spent time in prayer and reflection before accepting. I believe that God has a purpose for each of us, Psalm 46 reminds us that "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." This verse has always been a source of comfort and inspiration for me, and I believe it perfectly encapsulates the spirit of our church community. As we embark on this journey together, I trust that God will be our guide and protector, providing us with the strength and wisdom we need to serve our church family.

I look forward to serving our church family in this new capacity and to supporting our community in every way I can.
