Who we are
Some of the people you will meet at St Helen’s and St Luke’s
Peter Huxtable - Vicar of St Helen’s and St Luke’s
Peter Huxtable has been Vicar here since March 2010. Previously he was vicar in Bestwood, Nottingham and a curate in Kidderminster, Worcs.
Before training for ordination, Peter lived in Beeston and worked in Nottingham in various IT-related jobs.
Peter is married to Ruth with 3 children and also owns a golden retriever.
Peter says: “I really enjoy being a vicar with all the challenges of sharing beliefs about God and Jesus at a time when God has often been given a bad press.
Actually, my experience is that many people are interested in faith and spiritual things, and it comes as a wonderful surprise (for people and for me)
when people discover God is active in their lives and faith is awakened.”
Peter also enjoys music making, concerts, cricket, the countryside, travelling around the uk, watching films and listening to Radio 5 live.
Pete Gilroy - Curate of St Helen’s and St Luke’s
Pete Gilroy is our new curate, originally from Crosby, near Liverpool. As well being a former webmaster and civil servant,
he has served in Vineyard churches and Youth With A Mission in Europe and the USA, on the way to becoming a happy Anglican.
Pete has been happily married to Bridget for over 22 years – she grew up in Puerto Rico speaking Spanish, but was born in Chicago.
Pete and Bridget love being members of the National Trust, and enjoy the English countryside, pub lunches and good curries.
Peter is a struggling guitarist and a fan of US sports like Baseball and the NFL - and Liverpool FC, of course!
