Overseas Mission Links

We have developed strong links with our three main overseas mission partners and are pleased to be able to support them in prayer, financially and however possible practically.

Marcus and Tamara Throup

Marcus & Tamara

Marcus and Tamara are CMS mission partners serving in Brazil. They live in Joao Pessoa, in the North east of Brazil, where Marcus is on the leadership team at the Cathedral enjoying a preaching/teaching ministry. He and Tamara also work with couples in the church – a kind of ‘marriage continuation’ course. Marcus was born in Nottingham but has been working in the Brazilian Anglican Church since 2000. Tamara is Brazilian and is a qualified psychologist. She supports Marcus in his ministry and is also involved in children’s work in church. Baby Rebekah was born in 2010.

Alejandro & Doris Mesco based in Arequipa, Peru

Alejandro & Doris

St Helen’s has been involved with the life and ministry of the Mesco family for several years. Members of the church have visited Peru and Alejandro has visited Stapleford.

High in the mountains, in a village called Cabanconde is Mission, San Felipe, which can only be reached by donkey track . There, Alejandro is living alone for much of the time working to establish the Gospel while his wife Doris, and their family remain in Arequipa. She is involved with a thriving work for the church while supporting their adult children.

Dorcas Letasi - Uganda

Dorcas

Dorcas first came to St Helen’s in September 2001, as a Care Force worker. Her hometown is Arua in Uganda. She stayed with us for two years, before going on to Redcliffe Bible College to do a further degree in Mission. Then in 2006 she returned to Uganda.

Dorcas is the communications officer with a Christian outreach programme called FOCUS working with University Students

We are also committed to the work of Tearfund and are also pleased to be in partnership with CPAS, our Patrons, who historically have had long links with the organisation and ongoing work of the clergy here at St Helen’s.
