Funerals and bereavement in Stapleford
As the local parish church, we are committed to serve the community all through
lives ups and downs. But when someone you love dies, it can be particularly
devastating.
At times like this we want to support you wherever we can, so if you are looking
for help in arranging a funeral, or you need some bereavement care, please
do contact the vicar.
When a death occurs in the parish, we liaise closely with the local funeral
directors and can help in practical ways with music, readings, flowers
in church and suggestions how to make the funeral service as personal as possible.
Some people want a service in church followed by the burial or cremation; others
prefer to go straight to the crematorium for the ceremony. If you wish to have
any sort of Christian element to the service, we are here to offer whatever
help is appropriate for your family.
An annual Bereavement Service is held in November to support those families
who have been bereaved and help them experience God’s strength and comfort
in the months and years that follow. For details of the next one please contact
the parish office.
A Book of Remembrance is left in the Memorial Chapel at St Helens and records
the names of those in the parish who have died. Many bereaved people find it
helpful to come to the church and spend some time in quiet contemplation around
the anniversary of the death of a loved one and see their name remembered in
such a way.
