About us
We are an Anglican church on the outskirts of Nottingham, on the southern
boarders of the Southwell and Nottingham Diocese,
and part of the local Beeston deanery. We are also affiliated to the
‘New Wine’ network
of churches.
The Patron of the Church is CPAS
(Church Pastoral Aid Society).
The PCC (Parochial Church Council) of St Helen’s and St Luke’s
have committed to supporting fairly traded products wherever possible
throughout the church’s activities.
We consider ourselves an ‘Evangelical Charismatic’ church. This
means we believe in the Bible as the inspired word of God, and the ‘instruction
book’ for our lives. It also means we believe in, and experience the
day-to-day love and power of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in our church
services.
For over 800 years people have been worshiping God at St Helen’s - a
pretty church found right in the middle of Stapleford. But ‘the church’ is
more than just a building, it’s a group of people who want to love and
serve God. Sometimes we get it right, but sometimes we don’t. But because
we know God loves us with a passion and is ready to forgive us, we hopefully
learn from our mistakes and move on. So if you are looking for a perfect church,
with perfect people, you’d better keep looking! However if you’d
like to join us sometime, and explore who and what God is, what plans he has
for all our lives, then we’d be delighted to see you. Why not come along
to one of our services or groups or call the parish office and ask someone
for a chat.
St Luke’s is our ‘daughter church’ established around
100 years ago. It has a smaller congregation faithful in prayer and worship.
There’s a weekly toddler group held in the church on Friday mornings
for local parents (9.30 – 11.30 term time only). For all other activities
St Luke’s joins with St Helen’s. The clergy and lay ministers
serve both churches alike.
