Supporting young families

Tuesday Break

This is the St Helen’s parent and toddler group.

We meet on Tuesdays in school term time from 9.30 am until 11 am for a cuppa and chat while the children run around and play.

The sessions are really informal with a wide variety of toys on offer to amuse babies and toddlers up to the time they go to pre-school. For many parents it’s the highlight of the week, a place to come and relax and be yourself. There are also people to chat through any problems you may be facing, and are more than willing to sit and listen if that helps.

There’s no charge for the session, but a small donations towards refreshments are welcomed. We are currently looking for ways to involve more parents with the running and development of Tuesday Break so all ideas are welcomed as we try to give the community more of what it needs.

We are hoping to respond to initial ideas and set up a single parents group. Parenting can be hard work at the best of times, but when you are coping alone then it can be almost overwhelming and even lonely. We want to be able to support and help and would value ideas and input to help make this happen.

Parenting Course

We also run a parenting course. This is a well-established course that has helped many thousands of parents across the UK understand and cope with the stresses and joys of family life. Whatever age your child is, from babies to teenagers, then the parenting course will offer support, information and the chance to share some of the frustrations and questions that come with raising a child. It’s a great opportunity to come and realise that you are not alone in coping with the most important job in the world!

To find out when the next parenting course is running contact the parish office.

St Luke’s Parent and Toddler Group

St Luke’s Parent and Toddlers is a friendly and relaxed group for those with preschool children to meet together and have a cuppa whilst the children play. We usually have plenty going on with lots of craft activities and themed mornings, such as water play, soft play and messy play! We also have fun raising money for various charities, like the Macmillan coffee morning, Children in Need, Red Nose Day and more. We are always very pleased to welcome newcomers.

The group is held on Fridays in term time from 9.30-11.30 in St Luke’s Church on Moorbridge Lane, access by the back door!
